When it comes to Thessaloniki, Vardaris has always been a significant point of reference in the city’s history and urban culture. The 2022 calendar “As Vardaris Blows” captures the identity and atmosphere of the area through original texts and rare photographic material, curated by author Thomas Korovinis and presented by the Vardaris Neighborhood Team.

Concept

The project was approached as a visual journey through memory, place, and time. The design aims to create a dialogue between historical content and contemporary editorial aesthetics, transforming the calendar into more than a functional object a cultural artifact that preserves and communicates the stories of the neighbourhood.

Editorial Design

The visual system was developed around the relationship between typography, photography, and composition. Each page was carefully structured to balance archival material with modern editorial principles, creating a cohesive rhythm throughout the calendar.

Through thoughtful typography and refined layouts, the publication highlights the character of Vardaris and its role in the cultural landscape of Thessaloniki.

Outcome

The result is a collectible editorial piece that brings together history, photography, and design, offering a contemporary interpretation of a neighbourhood with a unique identity and enduring cultural significance.
