Open Stage is an annual cultural event organised by the Municipality of Thessaloniki, bringing together performances, creativity, and public engagement across the city. Our task was to develop a complete visual identity system that could communicate the energy and diversity of the festival through multiple physical and digital applications.

Concept

The identity is based on the principles of Gestalt theory, exploring how individual elements can come together to create a complete visual experience. The initials A + Θ were transformed into a distinctive graphic symbol, creating a recognisable foundation for the festival’s communication.

The visual language was designed to feel expressive, contemporary, and accessible, reflecting the open and inclusive character of the event.

Custom Typography

A custom typeface, Neue Alphabet, was designed exclusively for the festival, creating a unique typographic voice that differentiates Open Stage from other cultural events. The typeface became a central element of the identity, allowing the system to maintain consistency across different applications.

Visual System

The identity was developed as a complete communication system, extending from social media content and digital applications to posters, event programmes, and promotional materials.

A series of colourful posters transformed the streets of Thessaloniki into a large scale visual environment, creating a strong presence throughout the city and connecting the festival with its audience.

Outcome

The result is a dynamic cultural identity that combines typography, colour, and graphic experimentation to create a memorable festival experience. A flexible visual system was established, allowing Open Stage to communicate its character across every touchpoint from the digital space to the urban landscape of Thessaloniki.
